PETALING JAYA: A delivery rider has been arrested for allegedly vandalising a bus stop before setting an auxiliary police car on fire.

The incident occurred at the Mutiara Damansara MRT station in the wee hours of Thursday (Feb 15).

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said they received a report on the incident at around 1.52am on Feb 15.

"We arrested a 26-year-old man at around 12pm at his home in Flora Damansara.

"The suspect is believed to be involved in the incident," he said when contacted on Thursday.

He said police have seized several items believed to have been used by the suspect in the incident.

"Initial investigations revealed the suspect had also vandalised a bus stop wall.

"We have opened investigations under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire," he said, adding that the motive for the incident was under investigation.

Earlier, a video had been posted on TikTok of the burning Proton Preve.

The five second video had the caption "puas hati bakar kereta polis" (satisfied after burning a police car) and showed a man clad in a black t-shirt wearing a helmet and posing with a peace sign.
